Parklife Invitational set to rock the Park
Some of New Zealand’s best freestyle skiers and snowboarders are lined up to excite the crowds at Earnslaw Park in Queenstown on Friday the 8th of August as part of this year’s Parklife Invitational. Thirty skiers and riders will rock the Park from 6pm when audiences can expect to see some outrageous moves on display as competitors vie for $5,000 in prize money.
Sponsored by Redbull, this is the 6th year the popular event has been staged by The Remarkables.
Josh Clark, Youth Action Sports Co-ordinator for The Remarkables and Coronet Peak said the Parklife Invitational had grown to be the pinnacle event on the Queenstown freestyle calendar.
“It’s an awesome night out with a winning combination of freestyle action and pumping beats,” he said. “This year we’ve got the Sunshine Sound System lined up to throw down some warm sonic sounds after the skis and snowboards are put away.”
Comprised of the legendary DJ Downtown Brown and MCs Switch and Mana, the Sunshine Sound System has headlined major festivals all over New Zealand including Kaikoura Roots, Rippon and Destination.
As always the Parklife Rider Team will be out in force as well as well known riders Robett Hollis, Nick Brown, and Matt Johnson.
In preparation for the event, rails will be positioned on a purpose built stair feature at Earnslaw Park and snow will be trucked in from The Remarkables.
Food and alcohol will be on sale throughout the duration of the event.
